Peace in the Midst of Chaos

Life can often feel so chaotic. No kidding! As one guy posted on social media this past year, “2020, egads!! I think I’ll just put up my Christmas tree and call it a year” (and this was posted in June).

I confess to you that I have struggled with finding peace in my life through the years. It seems that the enemy has won many a battle with me and been able to plant many seeds of worry throughout the years.

So here we are, still in the midst of this pandemic, racial unrest and riots in cities all over the country, a presidential election that has divided the nation with great animosity, and a negative spirit that seems to permeate just about everything, even the church.

And yet, I am at peace today more than I have ever been. Maybe the source of that peace has to do with my relationship with my Father, even in the midst of chaos.

PANDEMIC – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

RIOTS, RACIAL UNREST – Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all (Romans 12:17-18).

POLITICAL CORRUPTION AND CHAOS – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid (John 14:27).

In the midst of calamity, plague, riots, unrest…SING…BURST INTO SONG AND SHOUT FOR JOY!! (Isaiah 54:1—My personal paraphrase) I refuse to live in fear!

The Community Church meets every Sunday at 11:00am EDT.
