Since its founding in 2005, New Carlisle Hometown Days has been committed to carrying on the longstanding tradition of a summer festival in our town. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impact, we are unable to fulfill that mission this year and will be forced to cancel the upcoming festival scheduled for July 24-26.
This decision did not come lightly, as we attempted to wait as long as possible to make a final call. Our volunteers continued to dedicate their time to preparing for the festival until this week when it became evident that it will not be logistically or financially possible to host an event that our residents and visitors have come to expect.
After careful consideration of health department regulations that will remain in place beyond July 4, along with projected low vendor turnout and the loss of our fundraising opportunities earlier this year, we have determined that a modified festival would not be feasible and would put the future of Hometown Days at an unacceptable risk.
At this time, The Wiffle®Ball Championship remains on schedule and will be held so long as there is no regression in Indiana’s Back on Track plan. Participants and spectators will be expected to adhere to social distancing guidelines. More information on The Championship, including how to register a team, can be found at hometowncup.com.
Although this is not the outcome we were hoping for, New Carlisle Hometown Days looks forward to seeing everybody back in Memorial Park next summer. Next year’s festival is scheduled for July 23-25, 2021.
