LP County Extension Homemakers assist community

The LaPorte County Extension Homemakers have been making face masks for citizens in need in LaPorte County.

The Steady Stitchers Club members have been assembling kits for volunteers to pick up, take home and sew. Volunteers then return the finished masks to one of 3 collection locations, pick up more kits and keep on sewing.

Volunteers have been working for the past month and have produced well over 1000 masks thus far. Recently the Extension Homemakers received a generous donation from the United Way COVID-19 Relief Efforts funds to assist in their service.

They would like to thank everyone who contributed to the relief fund and to those who have donated supplies for this community project.

They will continue to sew until there is no need for masks. As the Extension Homemaker creed states “We believe in the present and its opportunities, in the future and its promises , in everything that makes life large and lovely, in the divine joy of living and helping others.”… it is their mission to help the community in any way.

Donations of fabric, elastic, thread, etc. are always needed and welcomed.

If you would like to help, call the Purdue Extension LaPorte County office at 219-324-9407 to make arrangements for

donations.
