Library Renovations Continue
As a public project, the work on the interior has been able to continue in spite of the coronavirus restrictions. In fact, work slated for the circulation and office areas that would have been disruptive to patrons will be completed before the library reopens the building. Critical repairs to the roof are also making good progress.
Other exterior improvements are slated to begin on May 1. Drainage issues in the front lawn will be addressed. A circular drop off lane will be added to the front of the building. Behind the building on the adult side will be a reading garden and additional handicapped parking close to a new entrance.
On the children’s side of the building will be an outdoor classroom that includes a stage and an art area. Native plants and grasses will be used in all new landscaping.
Renovations done at the library are being paid for with a combination of savings and a bond that is significantly smaller than the current library bond, decreasing the library portion of property taxes beginning in 2021.
