Message from New Carlisle Community Church
When we’re praising God and celebrating good things in our lives, it’s easy to be honest before the LORD…Not so much in our times of hurting and confusion.
A friend of mine said recently, "Christianity isn't that complicated, but often it is very hard to live out."
These last weeks have definitely turned life as we know it upside-down. How are you responding to the "darkness" around you?
Many times, in the New Testament, the apostle Paul refers to believers as children of light. The apostle John tells us that light dispels the darkness. I just read that a major fear of many people is fear of the dark. So what's the solution? TURN ON THE LIGHT! You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. (I Thessalonians 5:5).
My youngest daughter taught elementary school in Haiti for a year and in the last few months she was without electricity.
I remember a statement she made to me at that time, “The contrasting metaphor between light and darkness in the Bible has been weakened in our society since the advent of electricity.”
You must imagine what it would have been like to live in a world without electricity and light bulbs to feel the impact of Paul’s language.
Have you ever noticed that most crimes are committed under cover of darkness? Ever wonder why that is? Living in the light of the Lord is like living in His brilliance.
In the Lord YOU are the conductor of that light…How are you shining that light? How are you sharing that light? How are you spreading that light?
There are already far too many who are busy spreading as much darkness as they possibly can. During what a lot of people are calling "dark days", be the one who turns on the light. Be that encourager who shines and shares and spreads that light to your family and neighbors.
God bless you, New Carlisle!
