La Porte County Master Gardeners hosting Spring Garden Show

The La Porte County Master Gardeners will be having a Spring Garden Show on Saturday, March 21st from 8 A until 4 PM CDT at Michigan City High School.

Admission is $10.00. Children under 12 are free. Michigan City High School is located at 8466 Pahs Rd., Michigan City, Ind., close to exit 34 on I-94 at US 421.

The Keynote Speaker, Beth Botts, will present two talks: "Growing Green in a Changing Climate" from 10 AM - 11 AM. The changing climate doesn't affect our gardens; how to have an adaptable garden for continuing enjoyment and reduce your garden's climate footprint.

Her second talk will be "Vegetables Anywhere: How to Fit Farming into Your Life" from 1 pm - 2 PM. This will be about edible gardening in small urban spots, raised beds, balconies and vertical gardening in small places. Beth has a new book Illinois, Indiana and Ohio Month-by-Month Gardening: What To Do Each Month to Have a Beautiful Garden All Year.

Some other speakers will be Dolly Foster: "Gardening for the Monarchs", Bob Dixon: "How to Keep Flowers at Their Best", Carrie Conway: "Spring Salads." Other sessions will be Food Preservation, Bats, Landscaping, and Bees. There will be an all-day Kids Fun Zone, Vendors and Food.
