Chosen by their history teachers, 40 seventh grade and 40 eighth grade students participated in a contest offered by the American Legion.
They took a test called "Americanism," which involved questions covering our government and The Constitution.
This year, New Prairie Middle School had two district winners, 7th graders Jackson Sanford and Rachel Paul. They will be recognized and awarded a $25 prize at an upcoming meeting of the American Legion in New Carlisle in February.
In addition, Jackson's score was good enough to make him a 7th grade state winner! Jackson is invited down to the state meeting in April, where he will be recognized and will be given a $500 prize for winning! Congratulations to Rachel and Jackson!
