New Prairie Choirs Come Alive at Fall Sampler

New Prairie Choral Fall Sampler was held in the beautiful NEW auditorium. The public was able to park and walk right in! There is so much space including a balcony.

The show started off with Mrs. Lori Kienitz directing all the choirs in the song “We Give You Music."

The middle school students were then able to see the high school choirs perform by sitting in the balcony. This was a great opportunity for them to see what awaits them in coming years.

Innovation (NPHS mixed show choir) performed Baba Yetu with Raul Palma singing the main solo. Baba Yetu is Swahili for “Our Father.” It was an amazing number.

Sing Sensation (NPHS girls show choir) did a few fun numbers including “Sit Still, Look Pretty” and “Don’t You Worry 'Bout a Thing.” Sapphire (NPHS women’s choir) danced and sang “Count on Me.”

It was then the middle school’s turn and we heard the songs, “Give Us Hope,” “This Old Hammer,” “The World is Ours” and “The Climb.”

All the choirs came together again to sing “Come Alive” from the movie “The Greatest Showman.” The students were smiling and moving to the music even with 100+ people on the stage.

The show ended with Mrs. Kienitz telling the audience that the now seniors were her first class in the middle school! We are so grateful for all she has done for the music program at New Prairie.

A warm welcome was given to Mr. Everett Forrester. Mr. Forrester is the new Choir Director at New Prairie High School. Previously Mr. Forrester taught music to grades K-8 at Clay International Academy in South Bend, Indiana for the past four years.

Everett is a graduate of Bethel College with degrees in vocal music education and vocal performance. Mr. Forrester has performed with several groups out of Bethel College and other organizations such as the South Bend Lyric Opera and Michiana Vespers Chorale. He came on board just a couple of weeks before this show and he did an amazing job of just jumping right in.
