Maple Grove Church Hosting Human Trafficking Forum
Human Trafficking is an industry generating 38 billion dollars a year - second only to drug trafficking. This modern day form of slavery does not limit itself to big cities and abduction is not the largest means of recruiting. More likely is the fact that a child is feeling vulnerable and expresses these feeling on social media, which opens possibilities to lure a child with false promises. How do we protect children?
It is important to be aware of what is happening and of ways we can help.
On Wednesday, May 15 a forum with representatives from Rahab’s Daughters (rahabsdaughters.org) and Destiny Rescue (destinyrescue.org/us) will be at Maple Grove United Methodist Church to share valuable information which will include social media warnings, how to identify possible trafficking and how to help those who have been freed. Psychologist Debbie Lassicter and survivors Carolyn Bonds and Sharmila Wijeyakumar will be among the forum presenters. There will also be a time for questions.
The forum will be held from 6-7:30 Central Standard Time at Maple Grove which is located at 6655. E. 1000 N. New Carlisle, IN (LaPorte County) Questions? Call Pastor Deb at 219-762-3601 or 219-309-5647. Together we can make a difference.
