New Prairie High School Choirs On The Road Again

The New Prairie High School Competitive Show Choirs are about to hit the road and this year, it will be hard not to take notice!

With the support of school superintendent, Dr. White, and the Board of School Trustees, the choir trailer recently got a new look. Soon it will be full of costumes, instruments, and stage lighting as the NPHS show choirs, under the direction of Mr. James Bennett, kick off their eighth year on the competitive circuit.

Students in the advanced mixed choir, Innovation, and the advanced women’s choir, Sing Sensation, put in many rehearsal hours in order to compete and have grown to be respected competitive ensembles. Collaborating with NPHS band students who perform backup accompaniment at each competition, the NPHS performers have been state finalists numerous times, 5 years running, and have received awards for “Best Choreography”, “Best Costumes”, and “Best Back-Up Band”.

Choir students strive to maintain relations with the community and to secure sponsorships from local businesses and corporations to help with the financial obligations associated with competing.

The NPHS Show Choirs will kick off their 2019 competition tour at Northridge High School on February 16 but members of the community are invited to see the award-winning choirs at home along with the Beginning Women’s Choir, before they hit the road, on February 14 at 6:00 PM in the NPHS Auditorium.

This will be the final performance on this stage for the students, as they will soon be moving into a brand new performing arts center, part of the NPUSC building renovation project.
