Park offers "Maple 101" program on February 9

January 20, 2019

Maple sugaring season is about to begin! Join park staff and volunteers at Bendix Woods County Park for an afternoon of tips, tricks and how-tos of tapping maple trees. Discover how trees make sugar, how to correctly tap a maple tree to gather sap, how to cook syrup and how to participate in Bendix Woods’ sap-sharing program. Maple refreshments and hot drinks will be provided.

The program will start in the nature center and will run from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. We will be walking outdoors, so dress for the weather. The cost of the program is $5.00 per person. Advance registration and payment are required. To register or get directions, please call 574/654-3155.

Bendix Woods County Park is located on Timothy Road, just south of State Road 2, about nine miles west of the US 20/31 Bypass in South Bend.
