Solid Waste District Now Accepting Medication Bottles

Solid Waste District of La Porte County has partnered with Matthew 25: Ministries and is now able to accept empty prescription medication containers with their labels removed.

Containers will not be accepted through curbside recycling program and must be dropped off at the Solid Waste District of La Porte County’s office. Bottles will then be sent to Matthew 25: Ministries to be reused on mission trips where medical facilities are available. Patients will then be given a medication bottle to keep their medications in, instead of the current situation where some patients are carrying medication in their pockets and shoes increasing the chances of them losing medication.

Acceptable items include prescription pill bottles, large pill bottles, pill bottles with secure caps (child resistant), over the counter pill bottles, small pill bottles, and pill bottles without secure caps.

Every pill bottle donated enhances one of these missions and the recycling aspect fulfills a dual mission, since it not only rescues plastics from landfills and incineration facilities.

Solid Waste District of La Porte County is located at 2857 W. State Road 2, La Porte, IN 46350.
