Donna had been a Physical Education Teacher during the 1950’s and was also a Teacher’s Aide and Elementary School Teacher.

On June 17, 1956, in the New Carlisle Community Church, she married J. Robert Zigler, who preceded her in death on May 29, 2008.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Jean Cannon.

Donna is survived by her four children, Kim (Curt) Swank of Davisburg, Michigan, Robert (Alisa) Zigler of Jackson, Michigan, Gregg (husband Michael Flanagin) Zigler of San Jose, California, and Wendy (George) Arndt of New Carlisle, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Henry) Shuffle, Joshua Swank, Johannah (Jonas) Baltensperger, Alivia Zigler, Ben Zigler, Cloe Zigler, Josiah Arndt, Gabrielle Arndt, and Micaiah Arndt; six great-grandchildren, Gilead, Wyatt and Ginny Shuffle, Carson and Dakota Bates, and Izabella Matthews; and two sisters, Betty Posey of Indianapolis, Indiana and Patricia Webster of Lewistown, New York.

Donna received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Indianapolis, formerly Indiana Central,  and her Master’s Degree from Indiana University South Bend.

She was an active  member of the New Carlisle Methodist Church and the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, being one of the local chapters’ earliest members. Donna enjoyed crafts and drawing. Donna also had a beautiful soprano singing voice which she used singing in the church choir when she earlier attended the Community Church in town.

She was supportive of her children and helped them as they participated in choir and musicals in school,  enjoying being around the music.  She  loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren greatly and helped with them on a moments notice, babysitting and visiting.

She was known as a “mom” to many of her children’s friends,  listening and being easy to talk to.  She had a great sense of humor and always a ready smile and a silly response.

She was always ready to help with various community events and spend time with her friends enjoying “coffee time” with the girls uptown.  She will always be remembered for her sweet spirit, kind heart and warm smile.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Delta Theta Tau Sorority.  Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
