Busy Band Buzz: Football Season

What a great way to start off the 2018 New Prairie Cougars football season. First of all, congratulations to our football team on such a huge victory against LaPorte in the home opener of the season.

What an awesome community we live in to come out to Amzie Miller Field and see the stands packed full of fans cheering on our football team. The heart of a small town rural community on Friday nights in the fall is high school football. It is not just about the game, the team, the cheerleaders, the dance team, or the band…it’s about ALL of that. There is nothing like the experience of all these school groups coming out on Friday night interacting together to provide the awesome atmosphere at a high school football game. A checkmark in the win column at the end of the night is just icing on the cake for a fun night of good football.

Our Marching Cougars are always excited to perform their show. Many hours of practice, hard work, sweat, and tears goes into making a show. When the stands are full of New Prairie staff, students, and community members cheering and screaming for the band, it makes it all worthwhile.

We are blessed to live in a community that supports both athletics and the arts. As much as our kids enjoy performing their pre-game and half-time shows, they equally enjoy playing their stand tunes and cheering on the football team on the field.

The Marching Cougars have re-designed their pre-game show, including the return of the block NP marching across the field toward the west end zone to form the tunnel for the team to take the field.

This year’s competitive show is titled “Breath” and features original drill and music custom written for our New Prairie band.

There are plenty of home games left this season, so come out and cheer on the football team, support our Marching Cougars, and help fill the stands for every game. GO COUGARS!
