Ready or Not: Here Comes Hometown Days

Back for its 14th year, New Carlisle Hometown Days promises to provide a weekend full of family-friendly summer fun, Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29.

This year’s celebration features a slight change in hours, as the festivities will begin at 3:00pm ET on Friday afternoon. Steel drummer Kent Arnsbarger will provide the sounds of summer to kick off the festival. Throughout the entire weekend, you’ll find arts and crafts booths, food vendors, inflatables, carnival games, live entertainment, and much more at the heart of the festival in Memorial Park.

Friday’s main event will be the annual Fireworks Spectacular, shot off from the Olive Football Field. Be sure to catch Down By The Dock performing in the Gazebo from 6:30pm to 9:00pm ET in the lead up to the fireworks show at dusk. (In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks display will be rescheduled for Saturday night).

On Saturday, the park re-opens at 10:00am ET with a prime opportunity to do some shopping before staking out your spot on Michigan Street for the Parade sponsored by the New Carlisle Business and Community Association, which begins at Dollar General at Noon.

After the parade, a full slate of entertainment and activities will fill up the rest of the day, including Pedal Tractor Races for children ages 3-12.

Brock and Abrams will headline the Gazebo entertainment in the afternoon, while Jim Bulanda will take the stage Saturday evening.

Around town, the American Legion will be host to the massive Auto Show from 11:00am to 3:00pm ET. Last year’s event showcased 117 entries.

South of the park at the Little League complex, one of the nation’s largest WIFFLE® ball tournaments will feature players from across the Midwest and beyond, as they all vie for the Hometown Cup.

The festival will come to a close on Sunday, highlighted by a performance from Elvis and The Sweet Sensations at 2:00pm ET.

Also on Sunday, the Champions of Wiffle®Ball will be crowned, as the top four teams will square off in the Hometown Cup Finals at Migley Field. Games start at 1:20pm ET.

The next issue of The Gazette will be a special edition festival guide for the weekend. So if you know of an event (or a garage sale) send it in to be published on the Community Calendar page.
