American Legion Hoosier Boys State

Joseph Henning, a student at New Prairie High School and sponsored by American Legion Post 297, was the winner of the Breedlove Outstanding Citizen award at the American Legion Hoosier Boys State held June 17-22 at Trine University Angola, IN.

He also won a $3,000 scholarship and an invite to be one of two delegates from Indiana to attend Boys Nation in Washington DC although he had to decline The Boys Nation because of a previous commitment.

American Legion Hoosier Boys State is a week long program for junior aged high school students.

During the week they learn real-world skills and leadership qualities by creating a fictional and functional state government based on Indiana’s political process from the local up to the state level.
