The 18th Delta Theta Tau Sorority Golf Outing was played June 9, 2018 at Whispering Pines Golf Course in North Liberty, IN. Eighty-five golfers came out to support the annual scramble.
Taking home the $200 prize for first place with a score of 15 under was the team of Steve Nagy, Randy Nickerson, John Colanese, and Steve Tolmen.
The New Carlisle Fire Dept. Team AKA “Dimple Balls,” dressed as the Golfing Stooges and their “Lady” friend, once again won the best dressed team contest. These guys are always a good for a laugh. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.
Proceeds from the outing help fund the sorority’s philanthropic work in the community. Delta Theta Tau supports several area groups. Among them are the New Carlisle Community Food Pantry, The Pax Center, YWCA Women’s Shelter, New Carlisle Library Summer Reading Program, Miller’s Vets, and both the New Carlisle and Kankakee Twp. Fire Departments. The ladies have also been active participants in the Adopt a Highway program for many years. You may have seen them early on a Saturday morning collecting trash along US 20 from just east of the viaduct to the St. Joseph/La Porte county line.
Delta Theta Tau has awarded a scholarship to a graduating senior every year since the chapter was founded in 1957. First at New Carlisle High School and now at New Prairie. This year the $1000 scholarship was awarded to Sydney Roempagel.
The members of Delta Theta Tau thank Whispering Pines Golf Course, all the hole sponsors and corporate sponsors, and most importantly the players who make the outing the success it is year after year.
Save the date and join the fun for next year, June 8, 2019 at Whispering Pines.
