It’s almost here! The St. Joseph County 4-H Fair is taking place June 29 - July 7, 2018 and Open Class and Little Hands provide opportunities for adults and preschoolers to exhibit at the fair.
Open Class is for anyone age 18 and older and not eligible for 4-H. Little Hands is for preschool age children (ages 3-5) and not yet in Kindergarten. Participants do not have to live in St. Joseph County (IN). Children entering in Little Hands can make anything of their choosing.
Some possible, but not inclusive, ideas for Little Hands include painting a picture, making a paper chain, taking a photo and put on a matte board or in a frame, making a simple bird feeder, or creating a dough or clay sculpture.
This year Open Class offers fourteen different categories for adults to exhibit. The categories include: American Heritage (antiques), Quilting, Woodworking, Collections, Baked Foods, Clothing Construction, Photography, Recycled Items, Christmas at the Fair, Food Preservation, Needlecrafts, Gardening, General Crafts, and a new category called Farmers at Heart.
This new category is for anyone who may grow corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, and/or sunflowers. To learn all about the rules and regulations for each Open Class category, please visit https://www.4hfair.com/open-class-little-hands.
Entries for Open Class and Little Hands will be accepted on June 27th from 2-7 p.m. at the St. Joseph County 4-H Fairgrounds exhibit hall.
