The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) throughout St. Joseph County decorated nine (9) Revolutionary War gravesites––all markers originally placed by the DAR.
On May 23rd Peg Adams and Andrea Odell from the Schuyler Colfax Chapter, and Becky Runnels-Jose of the Miriam Benedict Chapter, decorated three New Carlisle area graves––two in the Hamilton Cemetery and one at the Olive Township Cemetery. Other Schuyler Colfax Chapter members decorated the remaining six gravesites in five other cemeteries.

Revolutionary War Veterans: Hamilton Cemetery–Frederick Druliner served with the New Jersey Militia. Born on June 18, 1754 and died June 2, 1841 at the age of 86 years, 11 months, 16 days; and James Ranstead, Sr. who served under US President George Washington was born in 1767 in New Hampshire and died in 1837.
Revolutionary War Veteran: Olive Township Cemetery–David Thompson, Connecticut Drummer served in Col. S B Webb’s Regiment. Born May 20, 1766 and died September 9, 1840.
