New Prairie Show Choirs Competition Season 2018

New Prairie has two competitive show choirs, Sing Sensation (all girls) and Innovation (boys and girls). We compete in four competitions each season and based on scores, we can qualify for the State Competition. We compete against schools from all over northern Indiana. Competitions are judged based on singing, choreography, costumes and overall showmanship.

The choir sings a total of five songs and has a costume change in the middle. All this must be done in 20 minutes including getting on and off stage. Our music is provided by a back-up band made up of all New Prairie band students, and they won many best band awards this year.

This year we had a very successful year with the following placements:

All Small school only Northridge: SS- 1st IN- 3rd Huntington North: SS- 1st IN- 1st North Central: SS- 2nd IN- 3rd Brownsburg: SS- 1st IN- 5th

Sing Sensation qualified for State Competition by having one of the best 10 scores at a competition in the state. They placed fifth in the State, and we also got best backup band!

A big thank-you goes out to Mr. Bennett (choir director) Mr. Teykl (band director), Joe Sato (choreographer), back-up band students, tech students, bus drivers who drove those early mornings and late nights and parents who chaperoned and supported us. It does take a team to provide this opportunity to our students.

The following are the songs included in each set:

Sing Sensation: theme British Invasion 1. Can’t Buy Me Love (solo- Molly Lenig) 2. Faith 3. Your Song (solo- Holly Thomas) 4. Rolling in the Deep (solo- Kylie Dillon, trio- Baily Lenig, Molly Lenig) 5. Don’t Stop Me Now (solo- Clara Hooton)
