It’s maple syrup time, at Bendix Woods that is! This recipe came from Bendix Woods for you to enjoy.

Bendix Woods Maple Leaf Butter Cookies 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened 1 cup sugar ½ cup maple syrup 1 large egg yolk 1 tsp salt 3 cups all-purpose flour

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then beat in maple syrup and egg yolk. Add in salt and flour. Best if dough is chilled at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll out dough to l/8 inch, cut out shapes (either a leaf pattern or whatever you wish) and add decorations as desired. Bake 12 minutes or until golden edges.

Etc. — Pure maple syrup that comes from the sap of the trees at Bendix Woods can be purchased either at the nature center Monday and Friday or on weekends at the gatehouse.

Enjoy this fine condiment from our local county park.
