The Busy Band Buzz: Trivia Night

The New Prairie Band Boosters will host its second annual Trivia Night on March 24, 2018 at Monroe’s Crossing in the historic Blue Lantern Ballroom at Hudson Lake.

Tables of ten are $100, or individual tickets are $10. Reserve a table, or walk-ins are also welcome.

All proceeds will be used for the purchase of new marching band uniforms. Our uniforms are approximately sixteen years old, have been worn by many students, many times, and are a bit dated.

Even if those were not good enough reasons to update our marching uniforms, we will soon not have enough uniforms to outfit our band.

As our large, excited, enthusiastic, middle school band classes become Marching Cougars we will have more band students than we have band uniforms.

Mr. Teykl has been working with a band uniform company for several months to design our new look for the “Sound of Cougar Pride”. With the approximate cost of one band uniform being $400, the cost to purchase enough uniforms of various sizes to fit the variety of students we may have in band at any one time is huge.

The school has graciously budgeted the funds to cover half the cost of the new uniforms. The band booster’s goal is to raise $65,000.

In order to have the uniforms made and delivered in time for the 2019 competition season, they will need to be ordered about a year from now.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our band parents, and the support of our awesome community, we are approximately one third of the way to reaching our goal.

This trivia night, as well as many other upcoming events, will get us to our goal in the next year! We already have several tables reserved, but we have several more available. If you can’t get an entire table put together, no problem, we encourage you to still come for the fun, join another partial table, and maybe even make some new friends.

Because this event is for the band, we thought it would be fun to have a Battle of the Bands theme. Each table, or individual, is encouraged to dress as their favorite band or musician. This is completely optional, we just thought it would be fun.

The evening will be hosted by our booster parents, and the Master of Ceremonies will once again be everyone’s favorite director Mr. Patrick Teykl.

Besides a night of fun and trivia, we also have an awesome silent auction lined up for the evening. We have many gift certificates from area restaurants, a hair care package and certificate from Generations Salon, a Stihl gas weedeater from GreenMark, an evergreen tree from Dudeck’s Pine Country, a large yard wagon, several gift baskets from area businesses, his and her gift baskets donated by the St. Stans Ushers Club, New Prairie spirit wear, and many gift baskets and craft items donated by our boosters, band parents, and band supporters in the community. You can even get a sneak peak at some of these auction items on New Prairie Band Booster’s Facebook page!

Please join us for a night of fun and help us reach our goal to purchase these new uniforms. Please contact Patrick Teykl to reserve your table at pteykl@npusc.k12.in.us or 574-654-7271 ext. 70404. WALK-INS ARE ALSO WELCOME! Doors open at 5:30pm Central time and trivia starts at 6:30pm Central time.

We are also currently seeking both individual and corporate donors. If you cannot attend one of our fundraising events and would like to donate, or know someone or some business that would, please find our GoFundMe page (NPHS Marching Cougars New Uniforms) and feel free to donate there as well.
