Fire Territory temporarily extinguished
New Carlisle will not be forming a fire territory for 2019.  Following a public meeting on February 27, the Town Council has decided to not proceed with the proposal at this time.  To be effective in 2019, a decision would have had to be made by the end of March.  The issue will be re-visited next year.

 

New Carlisle student on Manchester dean’s list
A total of 421 students engaged in study at Manchester University are on the fall 2017 Dean’s List. The students achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher while enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of classes this fall. The following student from your area is on the list: Adam Burns, senior, accounting, New Carlisle, Indiana.

 

New Troy Indoor Flea Market
The New Troy Community Center is going to be chock-full of treasures for two Indoor Flea Markets on Saturday, March 10 and Saturday, March 17, from 9:00 to 3:00 both days. 


Antiques, tools, crafts, books, memorabilia, housewares, handmade jewelry, and lots of yummy, locally made goodies and more will be available — something for everyone! Bring the whole family for a day of fun including a hot, tasty lunch. Admission is free.


The Flea Market season will continue on the second and third Saturdays of every month through April. 
The New Troy Community Center is located at 13372 California Rd., New Troy, Michigan. A map is available www.facebook.com/NewTroyFleaMarket.

Genealogy Bus Trip
The La Porte County Indiana Genealogical Society, in conjunction with the Michigan City Public Library, will be taking a bus trip to the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, IN on Wednesday, April 18.  


The Allen County Public Library is one of the best libraries in the Midwest to research your family history.  
The bus will leave Marquette Mall in Michigan City behind Sears at 7:00 a.m. CDT, with pickup at 7:30 a.m. CDT at Kabelin Hardware (west side) in La Porte.  


The bus will return about 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. respectively. 


Cost is $21.00 per person payable to La Porte County Genealogical Society.
