Four hundred three (403) teams were drawn on Sunday and placed into brackets for the 108th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament presented by the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever.
Sectional games are scheduled to begin Tuesday, February 27, and run through Saturday, March 3, with the regional round slated for March 10 and semi‐states on March 17.
The four state championship games that make up the state finals will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 24.
New Prairie (9-10) finds itself in one of the most challenging sectionals in the entire state and will be tested right off the bat.
The Cougars open up with a first round match-up against Class 3A #3 Culver Academies (13-6) on Wednesday, February 28.
Culver is the only team outside of the Northern Indiana Conference in the sectional and is the sole opponent the Cougars have not faced this season.
New Prairie is 2-4 against sectional foes this year, splitting a pair of games with John Glenn (13-7), and also picking up a win against Jimtown (5-15).
Should the Cougars knock off the highly-ranked Eagles in the opener, New Prairie would advance to play the winner of South Bend St. Joseph (14-6) and Jimtown on Friday night.
On the top half of the bracket, Glenn awaits the winner of an opening round match-up between Washington (15-7) and #11 Mishawaka Marian (16-3).
The sectional will be played at South Bend Washington. Admission is $6 per session or $10 for the full sectional.
