The Town of New Carlisle is urging residents to follow parking regulations on all town streets. The odd-even parking system is designed not only to allow for plows to clear snow, but also to allow emergency service vehicles to maneuver through narrow side streets.
While the parking regulations are in effect year round to allow street sweeping in the summer, they are particularly important during the winter time.
The town code reads:
(A) Parking on all town streets shall be regulated from November 1 to April 1 each year within each 24-hour period, commencing at 8:00am November 1 as follows:
(1) On every odd-numbered day of the month, automobiles and other motor vehicles shall be parked on the oddly numbered side of the street (north side and west side); and
(2) On every even-numbered day of the month, automobiles and other motor vehicles shall be parked on the evenly numbered side of the street (south side and east side).
(B) Any vehicle parked, stalled, incapable of moving under its own power, or left unattended upon any street in violation of this section may be impounded.
