The United Methodist Church of New Carlisle ensures that all children in the community can enjoy a Merry Christmas.
On Saturday, December 23, members from the church visited the children’s floor of Memorial Hospital in South Bend to deliver gifts for the kids spending the holidays in the hospital.
This is the fifth year for the project. When there are five Sundays in a month, the church sets up a lemonade (or hot chocolate) stand after service. The donations from the congregation are used to purchase the presents. Ann Morrison, wife of Pastor Kal, bakes cookies and the proceeds from the orders contribute to the fund as well.
The church even makes sure to bring enough presents for children admitted to the hospital after Christmas.
This tradition, along with providing gifts for one or two local families in need, help the United Methodist Church serve their vision of “Community, Compassion, Christ.”
