New Carlisle's Historic Homes and Buildings
Join Dana Groves from Historic New Carlisle, Inc. as she unveils a new walking tour brochure highlighting New Carlisle’s historic homes and buildings.
Dana will present a power point presentation to talk about the history and architecture of each of the properties included in the brochure.
The goal of the project was to provide a self-guided tour for residents and visitors to the community in order to educate people about the history of the town as well as bring attention to the architecture.
Most of the properties featured are located in New Carlisle’s National Register Historic District.
The brochure includes a brief history of New Carlisle, a guide to architectural styles, a photo and description of each property including the style and date built, and a map.
The brochure was made possible through a Historic Preservation Education Grant from the Indiana Humanities Council and Indiana Landmarks.
The presentation will be held at the library on Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00 pm EDT and is free and open to the public. Dana will follow up with a walking tour of New Carlisle’s historic district on Sunday, May 21st at 2:00 pm. The tour will depart from the library. The tour is also free and open to the public and will last approximately 1 ½ hours. Please dress for walking and the weather.
