NPHS Robotics team wins district event

Over the weekend of March 24 and 25, the New Prairie High School Robotics Team, Las Pumas 2197, competed in a FIRST Robotics Competition district event at Perry Meridian High School.

After a long two days of intense competition, the team brought home a first-place trophy!

This is the second first-place finish in the 11 years the program has been running.

After the first day of competition, Las Pumas were ranked 15th out of 37 teams.

They went on to join two other teams in a winning alliance and win the overall event.

Las Pumas also received the Entrepreneurship Award in recognition of their strong fundamental business skills and work towards program self-sustainability.

This has been a historic and monumental year for the New Prairie Robotics team.

They competed at Penn High School on March 11 and 12 and won both the Safety Award for demonstrating innovative ways to eliminate or protect against hazards and the Engineering Inspiration Award for their success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within their school and community.

The team is honored and humbled by their success this year and thanks New Prairie United School Corporation and the community for their continued support of the Robotics program.

The New Prairie High School Robotics Team, Las Pumas 2197, will compete again on April 7 and 8 at the 2017 Indiana State Championship at Huntington North High School.
