Friends of Library Book Sale set for April 21-22

The Friends of the New Carlisle-Olive Township. Library will be holding their semi-annual book sale on Friday, April 21 from 9:00am to 5:00pm EDT and on Saturday, April 22 from 9:00am to 4:00pm EDT.

Something new this spring will be a half-price sale all day on Saturday.

Every item — hardcover books, paperbacks, DVDs, CDs and audio books will be one-half their original nominal price on Saturday!

Many people have asked the source of books for the sale.

When the library has books or materials it no longer needs, they are donated to the Friends.

The Friends also rely on donations from area residents that are given to the Library through the year.

The library staff checks over donations and uses what they can, either in their collection or for their home-bound program. Anything they cannot use is given to the Friends for their sale.

About once a month, volunteers from the Friends meet and sort the books and materials by category and shelve them in a storage area where they can be brought out for the sale.

Set up for the sale begins at 1pm on Thursday, April 20. A benefit of being a member is the members-only early book sale from 4-6 pm on the 20th. Members have first choice of books, DVD’s and CD’s.

This price of items on Friday is 25 or 50 cents for paperbacks. Hardcover books, DVDs, and CDs are $1.00.

Every sale is unique, with this sale having a nice selection of biographies and DVDs.

There is also a nice selection of children’s books which are only 50 cents apiece.

Belonging to the Friends is a great way to support the Library. Members meet six times a year. Dues are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors and students over 16.

We would welcome anyone, whether they are a member or not who would like to volunteer to help with our set-up on Thursday, April 20 at 1:00 EDT or clean up on Sunday, April 23 at 1:00 EDT.

The next meeting of the Friends of the Library is April 3, 6:00 pm EDT at the Library.
