Bear Cub Spotted in Downtown New Carlisle
There was another bear sighting in New Carlisle last week. Unlike the wild black bear which was spotted in the area a few years ago, this time around it was just a friendly "cubbie" bear roaming downtown.
Stu, the mascot of the South Bend Cubs, was in town to deliver special Valentine’s Day packages to a few excited Cubs fans. For the last two years, the team has offered Cubs fans a special way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and get excited about the quickly approaching start of baseball season in South Bend.
This year’s VIP packages, which were delivered by one of the two mascots Stu or Swoop, included a $25 gift card to Papa Vino’s, exquisite chocolates from the Wakarusa Dime Store, two tickets to any 2017 South Bend Cubs home game, $20 of Cubbie Cash to spend at the ballpark, two South Bend Cubs t-shirts, and six beautiful red roses from Wygant Floral in South Bend.
While he was here, Stu decided to take in some of the sights of New Carlisle's historic downtown district. The South Bend Cubs are the Class A Midwest League affiliate of the World Champion Chicago Cubs.
