Upcoming Events at Bendix Woods County Park
Bendix Woods County Park will host a Maple Chili Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Glenn Bauer Shelter.
The lunch includes homemade chili, corn bread and desserts made with maple syrup produced at Bendix Woods County Park.
After lunch, participants will hike to the sugar bush, learn hands-on how to tap a maple tree and observe the cooking of sap into maple syrup (weather permitting) at the Fay Hooton Sugar House.
The fee is $7/adult; $3.50/child ages 6-11; 5 and under FREE. Pre-registration and payment are required by February 23. For more information or to pre-register and pay call 574/654-3155.
A "Sweet" Trip Into the Woods On Saturday, March 11 from 2 to 4 p.m., Bendix Woods County Park offers Webelos Scouts the opportunity to complete requirements necessary for earning “Into the Woods,” and to experience the famous Bendix Woods Sugar Bush.
In addition to badge activities, Scouts will tap a maple tree, visit the Sugar House, and see for themselves how to turn maple sap into sweet maple syrup.
A portion of the program will take place outdoors, so participants should “be prepared” for outdoor weather. Registration and payment of $3.00/Scout are required by March 3. Adult chaperones may attend at no charge. To register or for more information, call 574/654-3155.
The main entrance for Bendix Woods County Park is located on Timothy Road in New Carlisle, 8 miles west of the U.S. 31 bypass from the State Road 2 Exit.
