Be Mine Strawberries
16 oz milk chocolate chips
2 T. shortening
1 lb fresh strawberries with leaves, clean and insert toothpicks into the tops;
Melt the chocolate and shortening in a double boiler, stirring until smooth;
Dip the strawberries by holding them by the toothpicks into the chocolate mixture;
Turn strawberries upside down and lay the strawberries on aluminum foil to cool.
Sweet Valentine Salad
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup butter, melted
3 T. white sugar
1 (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 (8 oz) whipped topping
2 (3 oz) strawberry flavored jell-o
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz) packages frozen strawberries
Preheat oven to 400 degrees; Stir together crushed pretzels, melted butter and 3 T. sugar, mix well and press mixture into bottom of a 9 x13 inch baking dish; bake 8 - 10 minutes, until set. Cool; Cream together cream cheese and 1 cup sugar.
Fold in whipped topping; spread onto crust.
Dissolve gelatin in boiling water; stir in still frozen strawberries & allow to set briefly.
When mixture is consistency of egg whites, pour & spread over cream cheese layer.
Refrigerate until set.
