New Prairie opened sectional play with a 42-14 win over South Bend Riley.
The game was scoreless until early in the second quarter when New Prairie got on the board on a touchdown pass from Nick Wilson to Garrett Ruiz.
NP led 21-7 at halftime and scored 21 straight points in the third quarter to put the game away.
New Prairie 28, Andrean 14
In Russ Radtke's 40 years as a head coach, he had never beaten Andrean twice in the same season.
Last Friday, New Prairie used a solid offensive game and a defense that made big plays to eliminate the 59ers from the tournament, the first time New Prairie has ever beaten Andrean in the state tournament.
New Prairie outrushed Andrean 376-68 and jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Andrean tied it at 14-all in the third quarter before Wilson scored on a one-yard run.
After New Prairie's defense held, Wilson capped the scoring with a 45-yard run in the fourth quarter.
New Prairie moves on to Friday's sectional championship game at home against Hobart. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Town Time.
New Prairie has won four sectional championships in program history (2004, 2006, 2013, and 2014).
