Cougars shut down Washington, Bremen

In a driving rainstorm, the Cougars dominated the Panthers from the start and snapped a four-game losing streak to their neighbors to the east.

Nick Wilson threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns, one to Mason Workman and the other to Zack Ketterer. Ketterer had an interception return and a fumble return for touchdowns.

Wilson, Connor VanOverberghe and Max Barnaby each had touchdown runs.

The defense turned in a solid performance, holding the Panthers to 30 yards total offense.

New Prairie 28, Bremen 6

On Homecoming, New Prairie won its fourth in a row and shut down a Bremen team that came in averaging 32.6 points per game in its three wins.

The story of the game was the defense holding Bremen to 93 yards total offense.

Despite 124 yards in penalties and two turnovers, another balanced attack offensively led the Cougars. Nick Wilson’s 58-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Ruiz opened the scoring. Bremen scored on a 34-yard run by Grant Klockow.

Austin Weiland, Max Barnaby and Wilson each added rushing touchdowns.

New Prairie is on the road Friday, September 23 at Jackson Field to take on South Bend Riley before returning home September 30 to take on Mishawaka Marian.
