Boys 5th, Girls 9th at Invite
Nearly 2,500 runners representing over 100 schools descended upon New Prairie's famed Cross Country course on Saturday, September 17 for the 49th running of the New Prairie Invitational.
The event, which remains one of the largest athletic competitions in the state of Indiana, is among the sport's most prestigious races.
Both New Prairie teams competed in the Class AA division for medium sized schools.
The New Prairie boys team finished in fifth place with a team score of 177.
The Cougars were led by sophomore Jacob Corbett, who placed 11th with a time of 17:24.8 for the 5,000 meter course.
On the girls side, the Cougars took ninth, with junior Jordyn Bloode leading the way. At 21:06.2, Bloode finished in 20th place.
Fort Wayne Concordia easily won the boys Class AA team competition with 23 points.
Benton Central was the top Class AA girls team with a score of 87.
