Hudson Lake Mennonite Church will continue its tradition of an every-other-year outdoor “Blessing of Pets” service on Sunday, Oct. 2nd at 11:40 Eastern time.
The service will be held on the church property, and all are welcome. “Come as you are,” with or without pets.
The service will consist of a short reading, followed by an individual blessing for each pet.
Each pet owner will receive a blessing card and each pet will receive a treat. (In the event of rain, the service will be held indoors at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time).
Pets need to be on leash, in a pet carrier or otherwise restrained. In past years, attending pets have included dogs, cats, a horse, hamsters, and a hedgehog.
Light refreshments will be served after the service.
“We have this service to honor God’s love for His creation, and for the special bond between people and their pets,” said Pastor Esther Lanting, “We want to offer this to the community.”
Hudson Lake Mennonite Church is located on Walker Road, just north of Chicago Trail.
In the event of rain, the Pet Blessing will be rescheduled to Sunday, October 9th.
