Time to Join a Scouting Program

August 25, 2016

The LaSalle Council Boy Scouts of America – announces its new promotional campaign Launch Into Scouting, in conjunction with the opening of the 2016-17 school year.

Youth are encouraged to join one of the many exciting scouting programs that include the following: Boys can join the Lion Program (5 year old), Cub Scouts (6 to 10 year old), and Boy Scouts (11 to 17 year old), and ScoutReach after-school programs.

The Explorer and Venture Crew Programs are open to both girls and boys, 14 to 21 years old, or 13 years old and have completed 8th grade.

An exciting highlight for Cub Scouts this year, is that every new Cub Scout who joins the Scouts will receive a model rocket kit.

This fall at one of 4 different locations, our new Scouts can participate in a Rocket Launch and shoot their rockets along with other new fellow Cub Scouts. Area rocketry clubs will assist in these launchings.

New to Scouting this year, is the Lion Program that is designed for 5 year-old, kindergarten-age boys.

This program introduces these boys to Cub Scouting and fuels their imagination, creativity and fun. At the end of the year, they graduate and become Tiger Cub Scouts.

The LaSalle Council Boy Scouts of America serves an 8 county area and is divided into 4 districts that serves youth from Valparaiso (west) to Elkhart County (east) and Niles, Edwardsburg, Dowagiac areas (north) and Marshall County (south) and some surrounding areas. Scouting has served our community for over 105 years providing programs based on values, leadership, service, camping, outdoor education and other related areas.
