Local Coach Named Little League Coach of the Year
On Sunday, June 5, local Michiana area SUBWAY® Sandwich Shops recognized Mike Robinson as the SUBWAY® Michiana Region Little League Coach of the Year. Coach Robinson coaches the 7/8-year-old team of the Robinson Financial Red Devils from the New Prairie Little League. The SUBWAY® Michiana Region Little League Coach of the Year designation aims to recognize exemplary coaches, who have done an outstanding job not only coaching but also mentoring their team and being a role model for their players. “As a fellow Little League coach, I understand the time and energy that goes into coaching and we are incredibly honored to be recognizing Coach Robinson as an exceptional coach in our region,” said Scot Giddings, local owner of SUBWAY® Sandwich Shop in Elkhart, IN. “Each Subway sandwich shop is a local restaurant that is independently owned, so it is very important to us to give back to our communities.” Coach Robinson’s team was thrilled to nominate him for this award. One of his players, Braydon Doms, had this to say about his coach, “Coach makes me a better player. I try hard because he’s fun. Coach Mike is a hero and I like him.” One of the team parents, Jessica Sinka said, “Coach Robinson has taught my son the fundamentals of baseball, but more importantly, he has taught my son and the other boys on the team about what it means to be a good team player, trying your very best and acting at all times with respect for yourself, your team, your coach and the game.” In addition to the SUBWAY® Michiana Region Little League Coach of the Year recognition, Coach Robinson received a framed certificate and a $350 SUBWAY® gift card, along with being honored by throwing out the first pitch during the South Bend Cubs game on June 5, 2016.
