NEW CARLISLE- Powered by an eight-run fourth inning, the Elkhart Memorial Chargers defeated New Prairie, 8-1, on Friday, May 20 at Harry "Bear" Tolmen Field.
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Cougars, who had been red hot heading into the contest. New Prairie took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning, when Brad Kasinger scored on a Justin Cromey groundout.
Ben McDonald added two hits for the Cougars, including a double in the sixth inning. Dylan Kegley allowed only one hit through the first three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth. Kegley retired the leadoff hitter in the fourth before the Chargers rallied for all eight of their runs.
Mark Mayfield worked 3 and 2/3 innings relief, allowing no runs and just two hits. He struck out three and walked none
