Memorial Park Nearly Complete Again
The installation process of the new Memorial Park playground equipment has reached the finishing touches stage. Two truck loads of mulch were scheduled to be delivered to the play area on Thursday, May 5. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held once installation is complete, and the playground will be open to the children after that.
The bulk of the installation work took place on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. Led by the town crew, community volunteers and the New Prairie Building Trades class were all assets to the process. The Building Trades class is taught by Mr. Keith Hite.
Donuts and lunch for the workers were provided by two local churches. On Friday, the New Carlisle United Methodist Church donated the refreshments. While on Saturday, the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church pitched in.
The new equipment, purchased from Little Tykes Commercial, fits within the existing footprint of the playground area.
“The Park Board thanks everyone who volunteered, served lunch and helped in any way to make our Memorial Park complete again,” stated Park Board President Nancy Taplin.
The Park Board is appreciative of the dedication of the volunteers, who worked through the inclement weather on both days.
“This is an awesome town when help is needed,” Taplin said.
Taplin is also thankful for the patience of the public as the process unfolded. Safety of the equipment was at the forefront of the board’s decision making.
“It took time to decide on just the right equipment that would be durable, attractive, and be able to provide hours of enjoyment to the children in this community,” Taplin said
