NEW CARLISLE- The Cougars scored a huge Northern Indiana Conference victory over longtime rival Jimtown, 3-1, on Wednesday, April 27 at Harry “Bear” Tolmen Field.
Bryce Bloode spun a gem on the mound for New Prairie.
Bloode tossed a complete game, allowing just one unearned run and striking out nine Jimmies.
A Cougar error in the second inning turned into a run as Jimtown’s Ben Hurtt crossed the plate on a single by Zach Hill.
That was the last time the Jimtown offense was heard from, as Bloode shut them down for the remainder of the game.
Addison Kuntz tied the game in the second with a sacrifice fly, scoring courtesy runner Drew Lambert.
Lambert was running for Bloode, who doubled to start the inning.
Kuntz later drove in the go ahead run with a single in the fourth.
