Volunteers Needed for Park Equipment Installation
The long wait for new playground equipment at Memorial Park is almost over.
After the uncooperative weather at the beginning of the month slowed the progress of the project, the Park Department is planning to install the new playground on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30.
Despite earlier uncertainty regarding liability issues, the Park Department is asking for volunteers to assist with the installation. The work days will be from 9am to 5pm EDT.
According to Park Board member Nancy Taplin, anyone willing to work one of the days, or a portion of the day, is asked to call Town Hall at 574-654-3733. A work schedule will be set up based on volunteers’ availability.
The New Carlisle United Methodist Church will be providing donuts and lunch for workers on Saturday. The Memorial Park project is a top priority for not only the Park Department, but also the company which provided the equipment. The installer is making New Carlisle his first installation job of the year.
Much like the anxious children ready to get on the equipment and play, the Park Department is just as eager to finally finish the installation process and see the park filled with activity once again.
