Cougars 4, Blackhawks 1

NEW CARLISLE- New Prairie picked up its second consecutive victory over a Porter County Conference opponent in as many days, defeating Westville, 4-1, at Harry “Bear” Tolmen Field.

After starting pitcher Dylan Kegley struck out the side in the top of the first, his offense wasted no time providing all the run support he would need.

New Prairie scored three runs in the first frame, with Ben McDonald hitting a two-run triple for the second straight day.

Bryce Bloode, Kadin Abegg, and Evan King also collected hits for the Cougars.

Kegley went on to strike out seven of the 16 Blackhawk batters he faced to pick up the win on the mound.

Mason Workman worked 3 and 1/3 innings of relief to nail it down and record the save for New Prairie.
