Baseball wraps up long week at Valpo

After playing just one game over Spring Break due to weather cancellations, the New Prairie baseball team was in action every day last week, playing five games in five days.

The Cougars picked up two wins at the beginning of the week but dropped three consecutive road games. A 2-0 loss to Valparaiso on Friday, April 15 concluded the long week.

Justin Cromey was the tough luck losing pitcher, allowing only one run in four innings of work. He struck out six batters. Dylan Kegley worked two innings of relief, striking out another two.

Brad Kasinger led New Prairie with two hits. Ben McDonald, Zach Ketterer, and Drew Lambert added a hit each.

Through April 15, the Cougars were 3-5 overall and 0-1 Northern Indiana Conference play.

New Prairie has found most of their success at the friendly confines of Harry “Bear” Tolmen Field, going 3-1 at home.

The Cougars wrap up their first full week of conference play this afternoon, with a matchup against Elkhart Central at home. First pitch is slated for 4:00pm CDT.

After today’s game, New Prairie hits the road again for a Saturday doubleheader at Homestead. The first game of the twin bill is scheduled for 1:30pm CDT.
