Spring has arrived in New Carlisle, or at least the calendar says it has. Baseball and softball seasons are underway at the high school (read about the first week of games in Sports) and practices have already started up at the little league diamonds as well.
Activity seems to be ramping up all over the area, with plenty of events coming up in the month of April and into May.
One of the major goals of The Gazette is to help get the word out about the activities of the various organizations and groups in the community. The second issue of the paper is packed with information about things to do and how to get involved.
This issue is the first to feature the Community Calendar (on page 5).
Calendar entries are listed free of charge and are also posted online at www.newcarlislegazette.com. You can submit your event on the website or email it to email@example.com.
Also making their debuts in The Gazette, are two new regular features.
Barbara Peterich is reviving her column “Recipes, Etc.” an old favorite from the New Carlisle News.
Elementary school teacher Kaylor Keck will be giving us a look into the minds of children with “Insight into Kindergarten,” a cartoon/column about his experiences in the classroom as a kindergarten teacher.
Hopefully you’ll find these new columns enjoyable and the event information useful.
Once again, feel free to send in any newsworthy item you would like to share with the community. Let us know “what’s happening around town!”
On page 5 of the March 25 edition of The Gazette, the times for two upcoming NPUSC Referendum Question & Answer Sessions were listed incorrectly.
The April 19 public meeting will be held at the Kankakee Township Fire Station in Rolling Prairie at 7pm CDT.
The second session, to be held at the New Carlisle Public Library on April 25, will begin at 8pm EDT.
Both events are listed in the Community Calendar.
