After much anticipation, new playground equipment will be erected at Memorial Park early this spring. The old playground equipment was removed this past fall after it was found to be defective.
The Park Department is excited about the equipment which is sure to bring kids out to the park in the upcoming months.
Installation of the equipment is tentatively scheduled for the last week of March or first week of April. Because of the weather, the process will be flexible regarding dates.
According to the Park Department, the company providing the equipment will assist with the installation for the first two days. The department will schedule the remaining portion of the installation based on the progress.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned for the first available date the children can play on the new equipment.
The Park Department recently received word from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources that our 5-Year Master Plan has been approved. With the approval of the Master Plan, it will enable us to apply for grants with the DNR. However, these grants normally require matching funds from the town. The approval of the Master Plan and the installation of the playground equipment has been quite the accomplishment for the Park Board this past year.
