Fresh New Season at Olive Chapel Church

When God looks over the earth for potential leaders, He is certainly not looking for perfect people because there are none. So what is God really looking for? He is searching for ordinary people like you and me. He is also looking for people who share the same qualities that He found in David and other men and women in the Bible. 1 Samuel 13:14 says that God is looking for men and women “after His own heart.” What does this look like to be a person after God’s own heart? It means a variety of things. Just like a beautiful, multi-faceted, multi-dimensional diamond ring, there are many angles and attributes to the portrait of a man or woman after God’s own heart. Yet at the center of it

Chinese Exchange Trip

I recently had the opportunity to engage in an exchange trip through our Chinese program. A critical partnership with the Valparaiso University Confucius Institute, partially sponsored by the Chinese government, allows NPUSC to provide Chinese language and culture classes/programs to our students in grades 6-12. The 8-day tour in June included visiting a sister middle school in the beautiful city of Hangzhou and visiting the Hangzhou University of Technology. I was immediately struck by the hospitality of the Chinese people and their passion and commitment to education. The experience caused me to reflect on the opportunities and passion of our New Prairie community to provide the very best

Alvie "Elvis" Ellenwine attracts huge crowd

When Alvie Ellenwine arrives on stage, he becomes the famous Elvis Presley in seconds! He not only sings and energizes the many beloved songs many of us remember and enjoy, but charms members of the audience from time to time with a gift of one of his silky white scarves. The wonderful voices of the Sweet Sensations (Kim, Andrea, and Tyra) also provided a delightful presence in the show that took place in New Carlisle’s Memorial Park on July 30, 2017. Next on the schedule for Elvis and the Sweet Sensations is the Berrien County Youth Fair on August 19th this month. For sure, we’ll look forward to enjoying another great performance from this talented group during next year’s Hometown Days!

Support for splash pad

As a lifelong resident of New Carlisle, I am writing this letter of support for a splash pad (among other planned park enhancements). The New Carlisle Parks Board created a Five-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan which was adopted March 31, 2016. The main reasons for creating a 5-Year Master Plan include giving a clear sense of direction for the park system, improving funding opportunities (the ability to apply for more grants), and formulating a written framework for action.
